For Those Affected by These Two Massive Storms, the Reality Is in What Lies Ahead

It’s been about three or so weeks since the state of Texas was impacted by hurricane Harvey and about two weeks since hurricane Irma followed its path of destruction across the length of the entire state of Florida.

None of us will ever forget the “live” images of destruction brought on by both storms. The storms are now gone and the states and the many first responders and utility workers are starting to make progress in restoring power and the other daily services to all of the residents.

Yet, for those affected by these two massive storms, the reality of the significance of what lies ahead is looming large as they work to get back their lives and homes. Make no mistake: Our fellow citizens are now beginning to feel the pain and suffering of recovering from what the storms left behind.

So why am I writing about this? Each of us must make a concerted effort not to forget the challenges that these Americans will be facing. All of us can do something to help. It might be something as simple as a prayer for their well-being, or helping by sending supplies or making a financial contribution to a charity of your choice.

Do something. Be a source of encouragement as well as help for them. None of us know when we ourselves could be a victim of an event beyond our control.
