Burned Out, Or Fired Up?

"Burnout results not from hard work - we're capable of working very hard - but from a sense of futility, the fear that all the hard work isn't making a difference." ~ Harold Kushner

A huge difference exists between feeling exhausted at the end of the day by work that drains you and feeling "spent" by work that fuels your passion and purpose.

Where would you place yourself?

Many of my clients seek coaching because they are on the verge of burnout. "I used to love the work," I hear, "but now I'm just worn out by it."

If this resonates, this week commit to an action to move from burned out into fired up! A few ideas:

1. Connect with what you initially enjoyed about the work.

Was it interacting with people? Seeing projects through to completion? Leading activities? Identify what you've lost touch with so you can determine how to invite it back in.

2. Connect with your 'why' - your purpose.

Why does your work matter? How are you impacting others? I guarantee you are; spend some time discerning how - and perhaps how you can connect with that even more deeply.

3. Connect with your time.

Get a handle on your schedule, priorities, and what matters most, so you can run your day instead of your day running you. If you're coming to Spark in a few weeks, you'll gain a fantastic system for making this happen every single day.

In a word, connect. With your passion, your purpose, your time - and others. Work and life are a lot more fun when you're fired up rather than burned out!
