Iris welcomes Brenton Garen to its staff as editor-in-chief.
Brenton will be responsible for overseeing all content and social media for Iris as it continues to rapidly grow its online presence.
Prior to joining Iris, Brenton was editor-in-chief of Mirror Media Group in Los Angeles – publisher of Santa Monica Mirror, Westside Today, Brentwood News, Century City News and Yo! Venice.
He helped grow each website and corresponding social media channels while leading the editorial direction and initiatives of all print editions.
“It’s an exciting time to be a part of the financial industry and I look forward to rolling up my sleeves to grow Iris to the next level,” Brenton said.
“For too long there have only been a few sources for expert opinion and advice, but we’re thrilled to launch new initiatives and present information like never seen before.”
Mr. Garen was born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, but moved to the bright lights of Los Angeles in December 2008 after graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism at Queensland University of Technology in his home town.
After working as a freelance producer in LA for Seven Network Australia and Nine Network Australia for about a year, he joined Beverly Hills Courier as Digital Content Manager in May 2010.
During his 18 months in the 90210 he relaunched its website and improved the publication’s online presence through in-house video production, growing its social media channels and marketing its content and brand.
In September 2011 Mr. Garen joined Mirror Media Group in Los Angeles as editor-in-chief overseeing the five print publications and their websites/social media channels. During his near four-and-a-half year tenure he successfully launched many new print products and digital initiatives.
