From June 11-13, a gathering of the most innovative minds in the financial industry will congregate at the 2018 Morningstar Investment Conference.
At the McCormick Palace Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois, Morningstar is hosting its annual flagship conference event to bring together some of the financial industry’s brightest minds to discuss the latest developments and ideas about financial advice, to aid advisors in identifying growth opportunities, to discover new perspectives and to help put innovative ideas into practice.

Beyond the broad perspectives, the conference will also touch upon current questions about stock valuations to the path of interest rates to the future of advice. There will be no shortage of big issues to tackle this year, according to Morningstar.
“Morningstar presents the latest developments on financial advice from the industry’s top minds. Discover new perspectives on the market and ideas to put into practice,” according to Morningstar.
Attendees will hear from keynote presentations from Jeremy Grantham, Melody Hobson, Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman, Morningstar CEO Kunal Kapoor, Kevin Kelly from Wired, and Schwab’s Walter Bettinger.
Additionally, Morningstar analysts will lead discussions with notable investors and speakers including Oakmark’s David Herro, Diana Strandberg from Dodge & Cox, and Fidelity’s Steve Wymer.
On the first day, the conference will cover topics like Fund Ratings Systems & Performance; Social Comparisons and Financial Well-Being; Evaluating the Federal Government’s Approach to Helping Investors; Morningstar Indexes: Beta Disruption, Strategic Beta Innovation, and Sustainability; The Latest in Manager Research; New Data for Choosing and Understanding Funds & Companies; New Tools for Sustainable Investing; Quant Variety Show: Flows, Attribution & Scenario Analysis; and Index Fund and ETF Research Sampler.
The second day of the event will include topis touching upon Taming Your Technologies; The Bond-Pickers’ Guide to Fixed-Income Strategies; The Rise of the Machines; On the Cutting Edge of Retirement Research; Manager Selection From a Practitioner’s Perspective; Smart Plays in Developing Markets; Making Sense of the Multitude of Multi-Factor ETFs; Show Me the Income; A Conversation With Mellody Hobson, President, Ariel Investments; What Drives Investor Success?; Crypto, Blockchain, and Lamborghinis, Oh My!; Defensive Equity Investing; and The Future of Diversification.
